DOUG HACKING MEMORIAL EVENT

ABRAM WIGAN

SUNDAY The 22nd of June

The early summer weekend of the ( 22nd SUNDAY ) of June sees the RideOffRoad team return to the ever popular Abram Motorpark at Wigan for round 4 of the series and the Doug Hacking Memorial event For anyone who did not know Doug, the ever popular Lancastrian’s Kawasaki roots stem way back to 1963 when he established Doug Hacking Motorcycles of Bolton making him the UK’s longest standing Kawasaki dealership. It is of no surprise when anyone in the north thinks Kawasaki most will immediately think Doug Hacking.

Doug’s obvious passion was motorcycles and in and amongst the day to day running of his dealership Doug was a keen and very capable Moto X rider achieving much success on a local and national level riding for factories such as Maico amongst others. Many of Doug’s passions are now shared with his family as they take care of the day to day duties of running the very busy Kawasaki emporium. Now with elder brother Craig living in France the racing duties firmly rest on Grants shoulders who can be found riding Enduro’s most weekends at both national and club level.

It only seemed right that after Doug’s passing away earlier this year and Grant’s now obvious connections with the enduro world that RideOffRoad should hold an event in honour of the north’s long established favourite Kawasaki dealer. So June sees a busy time for the RideOffRoad team as we begin to repair and change the course for the forthcoming event. The course which was last used in March will receive grading and as many changes as possible promising something new for everyone. The event will comprise of two races on Sunday, the 2 hour morning race will be for sportmen only and the afternoon 2.5 hour race will be for all other classes

Trophy’s at this event again will go down to 5th place and it will be goodies as usual from Ipone Oils to all trophy winners, thanks to generous sponsors Race FX. There will also be a selection of Doug’s bikes on display and trophies will be presented by his son Grant promising to make it a fantastic weekend. The emphasis on the event and the whole weekend will be on fun. Camping will be available so anyone wishing to make a weekend of it is welcome. With an entry fee of £35 the event promises to fill up fast so enter early to avoid disappointment
